Unclad Bathing and Lyer Birds

Well since our Bega road trip we had a great week around Wollongong. The night we got back we headed over to the Figgy Bowlo down the street for some trivia! It was a pretty entertaining night where unfortunately we didn't really help much with questions they didn't already know but we learned that candies are called "lollies" and Australians pronounce the word Aluminum "al-you-min-ium". Always learning something new! Our team, Team Possibly, won. It sounded like it was a regular occurrence ;)

Thursday we walked to the shopping center to get some groceries while our laundry dried back at home on the Hills Hoist. Quite the load to carry back but no drama, I fed Jeff chicken chips along the way back for fuel.

Friday we took our daypacks and headed into town in search of an outdoorsy store where we could get a 2nd tarp, new buckle for Jeff's pack and some gas for our little stoves. We were impressed to find it all at the first shop we walked into and had the rest of the afternoon to explore so after getting some Turkish Gosleme we headed to the beach! Spent the afternoon there listening to the new Mumford and Sons album and watching the kids slowly take over as they got out of school on holiday. We had a spontaneous BBQ that night and it's been confirmed that Hedley is the Grill Master!

Saturday we had a job in the morning helping do some yard work for a coworker of Carolyn's. The couple that lives there are from Scotland and were really friendly with 3 kids who kept us company outside while we pulled weeds and such. As they climbed trees around us the oldest of the kids bombarded Jeff with sports questions which I think he enjoyed. We learned that he is a Lakers fan and a Yankees fan (Jeff did well at keeping his opinions to a minimum) and that the local water park is a "must see" when visiting Australia. Haha! I listened to The Lumineers on repeat and was really enjoying myself until a HUGE spider crawled up my leg. That was about the end of the work day for me! We walked to John and Sophie's that night to watch the semi final Footy match the Rabbitohs vs the Bulldogs. We were going for the Rabbitohs but unfortunately things didn't work out in their favor.

Sunday we helped Nancy and Hedley with a little yard work, dipped our feet in their pool and basically just stayed lazy most afternoon. I wanted to make them a nice dinner since they've done so much for us so we made some Gnocchi from scratch! They seemed to like it so I'll probably make it again another night later on.

Monday we set out for an overnight coastal walk from the Otford Station. It was on this trip that we lovingly named our tent Dumbledore as it appears to be topped with fabric in the shape of an orange wizard's hat. The hike was quite the adventure complete with 2 Lyer birds, gorgeous views, great sunrise on the ocean, red wine and ramen for dinner and accidentally coming across an Unclad Bathing beach! I'll just leave it at that :)

Next post will be about our trip to western Australia!
